Sounds like a simple idea, doesn’t it? However, in practice, the application of this law can be challenging, especially when we take into account human behavior and the online environment.
To better understand this context, it is important to understand the concept of machine learning, a branch of artificial intelligence that enables algorithms to recognize patterns and make predictions based on large data sets.
Although this concept allows machines to learn from past experiences and continually improve their skills, it’s important to keep in mind that, as in the infamous case of Tay, the Microsoft chatbot, this interaction can also result in undesirable responses when exposed to negative interactions.
In the case recounted above, Twitter users quickly discovered that they could influence Tay’s behavior by teaching her offensive and harmful responses, which resulted in her being forced off the show in less than 24 hours due to the fact that the responses they produced became racist or had offensive sexual content.
Another recent example is the GPT-3 chatbot, an AI developed by OpenAI. Although it is one of the world’s most advanced in natural language generation, GPT-3 can also be negatively influenced by human interaction. If exposed to examples of inappropriate or prejudiced language, GPT-3 may reproduce this type of discourse in their responses, which raises ethical and moral concerns about its use in public settings.

These incidents highlight the ethical and moral challenges associated with the development and use of A.I. Both documents point out that, without proper regulation, AI could exacerbate social and economic inequalities, as well as raising privacy and security concerns. It is therefore crucial that governments implement policies that ensure the responsible use of AI, with a focus on legislation that guarantees data protection and transparency in automated decision-making processes.
AI regulation must be dynamic and adaptable, keeping pace with rapid technological innovations. This promotes a safe and reliable environment for AI, which enhances its economic and social benefits, while at the same time
protects the rights and dignity of individuals.
